The holidays are upon us so that means it’s time to start thinking about your business’ holiday cards. It doesn’t matter whether you print them or send them digitally, it’s a great way to say thank you to your loyal customers and wish them a happy holiday season.
In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to design a digital holiday card in Photoshop. You can send this out via email. The purpose of this card is to let your clients/customers know when you will be closed, thank them for their support and to give them that warm, fuzzy feeling that you are a company that cares!
You will need:
Bebas Neue font
Merry free hand-drawn icons
Special elite font
Paper texure
Create a new document in Photoshop in the following size:
Download an old paper texture from Lost and Taken and paste it into your document. I edited mine a little to get rid of the dirty marks.
Paste in your logo and center it at the top. When resizing your logo, be sure to hold down the Shift key to resize it proportionately. Also add a dotted line at the bottom of your logo.
Choose a speech bubble shape from one of the custom shapes in Photoshop.
Draw one on your artboard. Using the font Bebas Neue, type a festive message like Season’s Greetings, and
place it inside the bubble.
Now select the text and your bubble and rotate it slightly to the right. Give the bubble a colour (#2feab7). You will see it’s a very bright colour. But change the blending mode of the bubble layer to multiply and see what happens. You can try color burn as well.
Next, drag in some Christmas icons or drawings like these. Here I put in a candle and Christmas tree. Also type out your message outlining when your office will be closed, or something like that. I typed mine out in a typewriter font called Special Elite.
Now type out your holiday message in the Bebas font and in a red colour (#e55454).
Put another dotted line below the holiday message and then add your business’ contact details below. You can type these out in the same typewriter font and add some icons. The phone, mouse and envelope icons can be found in Photoshop’s default custom shapes. There are many free Facebook icons available on the internet – just do a search for that.
And this is our final company holiday ecard!
