I’ve taken over 20 classes on Skillshare, and I must say, I’m obsessed. I love the idea of being able to learn something new in a weekend, or even in an hour! If you’re curious about which classes I took and my opinion on them, scroll down and see what my 6 favourite Skillshare classes are for designers or other creatives.

There are certainly a lot more classes for designers, these are just my personal favourites. If you have your own favourites, let us know in the comments!
Get Stuff Done Like A Boss: Design Your Workflow and Double Your Productivity in 21 Days
This class by Tiago Forte is one of the first classes I took, and I loved it so much I’m actually going through the lessons again for the 3rd time now. If you want to increase your productivity, worry less about the stuff you want to do, work faster and better, then this class is for you. Learn more here.
Intro to Surface Pattern Design: Learn Adobe Illustrator | Create Patterns
Ever wanted to make your own repeat patterns? Bonnie Christine shares how to find inspiration for your pattern, how to find a colour palette, helpful Illustrator tips and tricks on drawing your pattern, and finally: how to make a repeat pattern. I loved this course and highly recommend it to beginners and seasoned designers. Learn more here.
Creative Logo Making: Design with Circles
If you’re new to Illustrator, this class by Peter Bone will teach you the essential tools. And even if you work in Illustrator every day, you’ll still learn a few cool tricks! Also check out Peter’s other class on making logos with triangles.
Design for Print: Stand Out with Specialty Printing Techniques
In this class by Ross Moody you’ll learn about different print methods, paper types, special print techniques, and how to setup your artwork for print! I’ve never found a tutorial online that showed how to prepare your work for speciality printing techniques, so this class is worth gold. Learn more here.
Beyond the Logo: Crafting a Brand Identity
If you’re a graphic designer or business owner who wants to learn how to create their own brand identity, this class is for you. You won’t learn how to create a logo, instead you’ll learn how to take a logo and build it out into an identity: how to choose a colour palette, fonts and patterns for your or your client’s brand and make it look cohesive. I LOVED this class! Learn more here.
Learn to Draw Digitally: Create Cute Drawings Using Basic Shapes
In this class you’ll learn how to make a whimsical drawing using basic shapes. You don’t need to be an illustrator to make these cute graphics. Anyone can do it! At the end of the class you’ll have a new piece of art that you can give away as a free printable, or print it out for a friend! Learn more here.
Update: I just started these two new classes, and I can already tell that they will be in my favourites list. Check them out below:
Waterbrush Lettering Essentials
Learn how to create your own waterbrush lettered greeting cards. So far, this is the best online class about brush lettering I have found. Learn more about it here. Check out Teela’s, (the teacher) two free YouTube tutorials on brush lettering here and here.
Watercolor Branding: Create Your Own Custom Watercolor Logo
This watercolour branding class is another one by Teela. I love her free YouTube tutorials – she is an excellent teacher!

I love skillshare!! They have so many great classes and tutorials, I’m learning incredibly a lot about Photoshop and design I would have to pay a ton of money for otherwise. I like the one with waterbrush lettering you mentioned, I should definitely check it out. 🙂
